Applemist Village
Just a few miles south of wealthy Pepperbee Village, sits the bustling fishing village of Applemist. This village is the only coastal settlement in Sothlin Province. As such, they are the only seafood supplier for the entire province. This has allowed the village to grow significantly.
Any person that can handle a boat can find success bringing crab and fish to land. However, there are two major families that run the fishing industry: Iceblight Family Fishing and Crustacean Ventures, which is owned by the Barrowmink family.
Independent seafarers can make a living here. But they run the risk of being bought out or shut down. These two families are each aggressively seeking complete dominance in the Applemist fishing industry.
The fishing season lasts from September through April. Fishing still occurs during the rest of the year. But the fish and crabs are not as plentiful. People come here to work during the busy season and then move around for the rest of the year.

Businesses
Taverns: Applemist Village is the biggest market for ale and spirits in all of Sothlin Province. The seasonal workforce is enormous and a single tavern is not large enough to serve all of them. Shell Barkspire owns all three taverns that service the village. She smartly set up each tavern to serve a distinct group of clients. She does not refuse to serve anyone. Rather, it is an unwritten rule that if you have a thirst, be sure to visit the correct tavern. The Shorebound Tavern is the farthest from the ocean. Its clientele are mostly local farmers and travelers. Hooks and Traps exclusively serves the local fisherfolk. It is found right next to the harbor. They have no qualms about working with the seasonal fishers. There is more than enough work to go around. But the locals do not care to drink with them. The out of town workers do not call Applemist home. They have no pride in or loyalty to the village or its residents. They often drink too much and start a lot of fights. The Broken Tooth is the tavern for the seasonal workers. It sits in the middle of the village. It has a bad reputation for brawling and debauchery.
Crabfish Houses: are places to process all of the creatures caught at sea for distribution to the rest of Sothlin. There are two of them. One is owned by Iceblight Family Fishing and the other is owned by Crustacean Ventures.
Shellfish Tower: This building is a six story tower, left here from ancient times. It has withstood time, weather and Apocalypse. The current residents of Applemist Village no longer remember why the tower was built. But it has been repurposed into a very large inn. The first floor is a communal lounge. The second and third floors are reserved for folks traveling here from the road. Floors four through six are reserved for fisherfolk. Most people work out of Applemist during the busy season. They take up residence here in the tower. The people that live here year round have their own homes in the village.
Oakfur Items: is a general store. They sell all of the home goods, food, tools and such that every household needs. They also provide supplies for the fishing industry. Oakfur Items is not just a shop that sells general goods. It is a large operation that accommodates all of the fisherfolk. Bee Oakfur owns the store and employs numerous people to source the goods and run the business.
Twisted Ankle: This shop sells goods for the traveler. It is owned and operated by Pinion Ankletoe, known around town as Twisted Ankle. He claims to be a witch and stocks his shop with all sorts of magical items, as well as standard traveler’s goods. Unfortunately, none of his magical items are magical. He is either a bad witch or a good conman. Many travelers that pass through town come here to resupply and often leave with a pair of magical boots, cloak or walking stick. Twisted gets rich and they get scammed. Everyone in town knows that he cannot be trusted and they enjoy watching travelers leave with a shiny, new magical item.
Notable Locations
Applemist Beach: a popular destination for people to swim in the ocean and relax on the beach.
Barrowmink Manor: a sprawling compound of secure mansions where the Barrowmink family lives. The manor is just outside of the village.
Iceblight Castle: a tower fortress in the center of the village. It once stood alone in the wilderness with its sister: Shellfish Tower. The village was built up around them for the Resettlement Decree. The castle has been owned by the Iceblight family for generations. It is currently their home.
Ocean’s Child Marina: the facility wherein all boats are docked. Named for the goddess of the ocean.
