Keeper of Lore

Ironwax Village

A village in Sothlin Province, Willowfen. Ironwax Village was established to serve as the home and base of operations for numerous mines in the Only Hills. Sothlin often gathers more metal than they can use. Much of it is sent to Sugarthorn Village where it is put on ships and sent to Sothlin City. The excess is exported to other provinces.

The village was built from massive blocks quarried from the hills in ancient times. The buildings are gray stone with dark metal roofs. The streets are rocky and the hills gloomily sulk nearby, under the gaze of the ominous Only Mountain. Most of Ironwax survived the World Woe, due to the hearty construction of its buildings.

The village looks dour. Its citizens make up for that with their frequent, boisterous festivals and colorful garb. Food prepared here is always hot and always spicy.

All resources gathered in the mines are submitted to the Miner’s Lodge for review. Willowfen owns all of the mines and everything that comes out of them. It is all accounted for at the Lodge.

The creek is named Old Coldsnap. Otter never tires of explaining the names. The inn has a sizable library in the basement. The first floor has several comfortable chairs by the fireplace. Otter encourages his patrons to rest easy with a good book. His generosity even extends to lending out many of his books to non-patrons. Don’t worry about Otter though. He always gets his books back. One way or another…

The shop employs various tradespeople and wizards to design and construct the equipment. The name of the shop comes from a plaque hanging above the front door that reads, “Whither is Our Fate? Where the Sun Shall Not Rise.” The origin of the plaque is lost to time. It is considered good luck to touch it when passing underneath.
