Pepperbee Village
Pepperbee is a large village southeast of Spiderbough Forest in the Sothlin Province of Willowfen. A very old mansion resides in the center of the village. It was a vacation home of some wealthy family prior to the World Woe. The structure somehow survived the upheaval of the Apocalypse. The Government of Reform restored it as part of the Resettlement Decree. They ordered that a village be raised around the mansion to jumpstart a logging industry.
Through smart business practices and wise investments, Pepperbee has significantly increased their wealth. It is now a luxury resort village. People still work in the forest and surrounding farms. The village itself caters to the wealthy with its wondrous inn, boutique shops and tavern. There are other amenities that you absolutely must partake of while in town.
The village is surrounded by a thick, ten foot tall stone wall, regularly patrolled by guards. It is enough protection from bandits, but would not withstand a siege by an army.

Businesses
Apparatuses Abound: Owned and operated by Hornet Gourdboar. She is a wizard that creates magical apparatus used by wizards, witches and potion makers.
Awls and Buckets: is a General Store owned and operated by Olive Bucket. She actually has two locations in Pepperbee. One location is in the marketplace in town where everyone shops. She stocks general purpose goods here. These items are from prestigious, luxury brands. They are certainly well-made, useful items; but may not be for everyone. The other location is at the edge of the village, near the area where the lumber laborers work and live. The products and clientele at this location are down to earth and of more modest means.
The Bunkhouse: This establishment is a brothel just outside of the village. They serve the local laborers and the wealthy tourists alike. As such, the premises are clean, pleasant and well decorated. Clients of any station are treated equally and with respect. They are expected to treat the workers in kind. Penalties for rule breakers are quite harsh. Once word got around, these penalties are rarely used anymore.
Pepperbee’s Jewel: The Jewel is the village’s inn. It used to be a mansion long ago. The building was severely damaged during the World Woe, but has since been restored. It is now in better condition than it was before the catastrophe. The Government of Reform put a lot of money into the restoration. This site was an important location near Spiderbough Forest. Workers building Fort Grindtoe came here for lumber and hunting to feed themselves. The village sprang up around the mansion over time and became an important location for the entire province. The Jewel is run by husband and wife, Grass and Wine Mothblossom.
Sturdy Mugs: This tavern is known across the land for their enormous mugs. If you have a deep thirst that cannot be quenched by a normal mug at your local tavern, come down to Sturdy Mugs in Pepperbee Village. The beer is not just plentiful. It is absolutely delicious. Vast quantities of beer tend to make certain folks a bit rowdy. You need not fear any rough and violent drunks at Sturdy Mugs. Every server is just as large and sturdy as their mugs. Even the house band, Glaive and the Hammers of War, is fearsome to behold. But don’t let their staggering size and frightening demeanors scare you. Their love songs are the catalyst of many marriages around town. Barge Wolfgully is the owner and proprietor.
Tread: Tread is Sothlin Province’s premier destination for travel goods. Beak Waterberry owns this shop and sells only the very best equipment. Beak can provide you with all of the gear that you might need, such as the latest styles and innovations that discerning travel enthusiasts desire.

The Terrific Track: During the World Woe, this region was ravaged by packs of seven legged wolves. These monsters did not originate in the Living World. They invaded from the Realm of Terrors. People eventually captured some of them. They are now bred in captivity. Their savage natures have not been tamed though. Nowadays, people race these wolves for entertainment and gambling. The wolves are known as rumblers, because several seven legged creatures racing around a track creates an extremely loud rumbling sound. The name of the track is a pun. People race Terrors, but no one is scared of them. The Track workers worry that the wolves will get loose and wreak havoc on the village.
True Jewel Theater presents daily entertainment at their two stages. Plays can be enjoyed in their indoor theater. Their outdoor stage boasts live music every afternoon and evening. Pepperbee’s performing arts community felt that their work was the true jewel of the village, not that old mansion that only caters to the elite. Thus, the theater was born, much to the consternation of the Mothblossoms that run the inn.
